Reminders:

We will be doing a Boomerang lunch.

Starting next Monday June 3rd, every day will be Boomerang Lunch!

A boomerang is a curved piece of wood that when properly thrown will return to the thrower.

A boomerang lunch is a lunch that has every piece of it return to its source. In other words, everything in the lunch goes back home at the end of the day. No matter if it is leftover food, containers, recyclables or garbage, it all goes back. Yes, even the garbage.

Purpose: * To increase awareness of the amount of waste
                           created in a child’s lunch

* To encourage the use of reusable containers

* To discourage the use of disposable containers

*To create habits that are kind to our Earth

It is quite easy to make a garbage free lunch so that you will have less garbage coming home in your child’s lunch bag.  Here are some links to help you and your child make a garbage-free lunch together.

Library books are due!!  I will be sending messages home next week from our librarian, who has a list of students who have overdue books.  Please look around at home any books that belong to our school library.

Jump Rope For Heart will be Thursday June 6 at 2:30.  Pledge forms went home this week.  They are due back on Thursday.  Please dress for outdoor physical activities.

Congratulations to Houssien, Tofe, and Jumana on receiving a certificate at our monthly assembly.

This week we painted rocks for a school wide kindness activity.  Students will be placing their rock in courtyard to create a painted rock pathway similar to the path below.

What we learned this week:

With EQAO this week we were not able to do math and language.  We will return to our regular schedule next week.

Science/ Social Science:
We have been working on our dioramas.  Students will be showing their dioramas to 3 primary classes on Tuesday. Grade 2s made their animal habitat and animal, while grade 3s made a landscape of the Ontario landform region they were assigned (The Canadian Shield, Hudson Bay Lowlands, or The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Lowlands).

Just a few examples:

Grade 2s and 3s started new science strands this week.  Grade 2s will be examining simple machines. The grade 3s will be studying structures.

Here the grade 2s are moving the heavy tub by lifting, pushing and pulling.  They determined that it was EASIER to pull the bin on a scooter board that had wheels. Wheels are a simple machine.  Simple machines make WORK EASIER.
