This week we said goodbye to Ms. Nicoll as she retired. We wish her all the best. Many students have either had her as a kindergarten teacher, or have interacted with her in some way over the years. We went to her class to wish her all the best, and to say good-bye.
What did we do this week:
Langauge:
We continued to work on letter writing. Please continue to practice writing friendly letters at home.
We also worked on Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year) comprehension activities.
Math: We wrapped up our 2D geometry unit. We will start 3D geometry next week!
Students enjoyed various hands on learning activities!
Gym: We played soccer
Art:
We linked math and art together to create transformational art using the first letter in our first name. Students traced the letter, then slide it to the right, then rotated the letter, finally, they flipped it from the first position. We still have a few students who need to finish.
We also looked at value. Colours can change shade or become a tint when either mixed with black or white.
Bell Let's Talk Day: On January 30 was Bell Let's Talk Day. As a class we discussed mental health, in particular anxiety. We discussed what anxiety was and that many people feel axious at some point in their life.
Books we read this week:
