week 3

Another busy week full or fun and learning!! :)

Now that the weather is becoming cooler and more wet, please have students dress in layers, and please ensure that your child has a pair of clean running shoes to leave at school.

Dates to remember:

- Celebration questionnaire is due this Monday, September 24.

- Terry Fox Run Thursday Sept 27 at 2:30pm (Rain or Shine) Please dress according to the weather.  Students will run or walk around the track on the field for the hour.

- Scholastics Book orders are due Friday Sept 28

- Timeline project due Monday Oct 1.  Presentations will start that day too!

I apologize for the amount of small projects that have been going home this past week.  I wanted to send them home early enough to have time to complete.  These projects will help with various lessons, and will be used for assessment purposes (the timeline) for multiple subject areas. Projects like these will not be coming home as often in the upcoming weeks. I ask that you please help your child, but please do not complete the project for your child.  They need to understand their work in order to explain and discuss their projects.

Math: We are completing our unit on graphing.  We will have a "show what you know" assessment on Wednesday.  Students will be asked to make and analyse graphs, just as we have done in class.  We will be starting Patterning and sorting on Tuesday.

Social Studies: We have continued our discussions on family, started to make our family trees, and began to look at timelines.  Grade 2 students will be exploring more into celebrations and traditions; while the grade 3s will start to look at early explorers to Canada and First Nations people.

Science: We started science on Thursday.  Grade 2s will be exploring Matter (solids, liquids and gases) while the grade 3s will be examining forces and movement.

Gym: We are playing many co-operative games.

Health: We started health on Friday.  Students were asked to discuss and come up with ideas about healthy eating.
