We made it through our first FULL week of school.
Please bookmark this page and continue to check the blog weekly for updates. (I will try to update on the weekends)
** Photos are now available under class photos
Just a few reminders:
1) Please keep all toys and stuffies at home. They should NOT be coming to school
2) Please bring a water bottle to school everyday
3) If you have not done so already, all students should have a pair of indoor running shoes that should remain in the classroom.
4) I sent home a small family project. Please help your child complete the 2 sides of the green sheet, as we will be using the information in class. Please have them done for Tuesday Sept 18.
5)Tuesday Sept 18 is MEET THE TEACHER from 4:30-6:00pm

We continued our discussion around diversity, respect and families. Please take a moment to talk to your child about what we have been discussing in class.
Math:
We continue to work on pictographs and bar graphs. Grade 3 students have started to look at scales (the number on the side of the graph) and choosing an appropriate scale. For example, with larger numbers in a survey, it makes more sense to use a scale of 5 or 10 instead of a scale of 1.
Social Studies:
We have be discussing respect and families.
Visual Arts:
We have been examining Primary colours (Red, Yellow, and Blue) and Secondary colours (Purple, orange, and green)

We continue to work on personal narratives and exploring "SMALL MOMENTS". Student will be focusing on 1 specific idea and adding more details to their stories. Students have begun using a graphic organizer to help them write their stories. (Introduction (who, what, where, when), First, Then, Finally, Conclusion).
We have been focusing on the idea of a watermelon. The whole melon is the idea or topic; the slice is a little more detail; but we want to focus on the seed of the watermelon. The more detailed part of the moment. We "zoom in" to have a closer look.
Here are some books we have read and discussed in class. Please ask your child to tell you about these books. What was the author's message??
Unfortunately we had to say good on Friday to one of our Grade 2/3 friends. Rakan will be missed and we wish him all the best at his new school.
Enjoy your weekend! It is supposed to be lovely!! Get out and do some ADVENTURES!! :)
