What we did this week:

Monthly Assembly:  Congratulations to Jen-neh, Touka, and Almontser on receiveing certificates this month.

Swim to Survive- We completed our first Swim to Survive lesson.  Next lessons are on Nov 8 and Nov 22.

I hope the kids enjoyed their first class.  There were many smiles on their faces!!

We did a swimming assessment, jumping into the shallow end with and without lifejackets, learned how to pick the right lifejacket, did front floats, practiced our kicking, and did bobs and bubbles!!

On Halloween we had our annual Primary Division Halloween roatations. Students were mixed into 8 groups and visited classrooms for various fun Halloween themed activities.

Language: We continued to write our descriptive paragraphs about fall and Halloween.

Math: We have been working on our pumpkin investigation booklet.  Estimating and measuring our pumpkin.

We also worked on a Halloween math mystery picture booklet. If their answers are correct, a picture will be revealed.

Social Studies: We continued to compare the Wendat with the Anishinabe first nations group.

Science: We did an experiment on elastic force.  We hypothesized what would happen if we placed elastics around a pumpkin.  The class predicted that the elastics would make the pumpkin pop due to the elastic force pushing on the pumpkin.  We then estimated how many elastics it would take to pop the pumpkin.    It took 140 elastics!!

Gym: We played some Halloween themed collaborative games.
