Brrr... It's cold outside!
Unfortunately, due to the extreme cold we have had many indoor recesses and the cancellation of our skating trip this past Monday. fingers crossed it will warm up next week so we can go skating!
The students had the opportunity to go to the Used Book Sale. Everyone was very excited and seemed to enjoy the books they left with!! HAPPY READING!!!

Language:
This week we continued to work on procedural writing.
Math:
We wrapped up our 2D geometry unit. We will be starting 3D geometry on Monday.
Science:
Grade 2s continue to study air and water
Grade 3s continue to study soils.
This week we completed some science experiments.
Grade 2s: Our first experiment in we explored air and water. We placed a piece of paper towel in the bottom of a cup. We pushed the cup open side down into a container of water for 10 seconds.... as your child what happened and why???
Experiment #2: We made the water cycle occur in the classroom! We boiled water and allowed the steam (gas) touch a mirror. The mirror began to create condensation and eventually precipitation.
Grade 3s: Our first experiment was to study soil. We looked at what soil sounded like, felt like, looked like and smelt like. We then looked closely at it and described what we say.
Our second experiment we created soil jars. We placed some soil in a jar and added water. We shook the jar for about a minute and recorded our observations. We then shook the jar again and let it settle for 24 hours! Ask your child what they noticed....
Health: We worked on completing our health posters about personal safety.
Gym: We learned to play a new game- "Tic Tac Toe race"
Drama: We played charades!!!
