Dream Catcher workshop with Mr. Tiberi
Indigenous cultural workshop :
Craig Tiberi is an indigenous dad from our school and he is also a member of our Wellness Committee. He visits schools and gives workshops to teach about indigenous history and culture so that others have a better understanding of the native community. He presented to the kindergartens last year.
One of our goals at Bondar this year which is driven by the Wellness Committee is to build an increased sense of inclusion and belonging for FNMI students and families. As well, we want to teach about indigenous culture and how to help with reconciliation. Mr. Tiberi is originally from Moosonee Ontario, from a mixed family. His mother is Cree and her family is originally from the Attawapiskat and Fort Albany area. He shares his knowledge, skills, and stories passed from family and friends in his community with regards to his history and culture so that others have a better understanding of the native community.
Dream Catcher workshop
This workshop is modified to accommodate all ages along with a discussion about its purpose and history. He will also be bringing in some bannock. It is a type of fry bread, which originates from Scotland but was eventually adopted by the Indigenous peoples of Canada, particularly the Métis of western Canada.
These workshops are paid by our School Council.
