Week #35

EQAO has begun.  Students will continue to write next week.

Please ensure your child arrives on time, as testing gets underway right at 9:00am.

Reminders:

Tuesday: Please return all library books.  All books are due back to the library for the end of the year.

Friday: We will be doing a school-wide kindness activity. In celebration of our school kindness initiative, we will be prepping for our final kindness activities.  All students will be given a stone to paint.  Each stone will be added to the courtyard to create a painted stone walkway.  Similar to the pictures below.

I just want to say how proud I am of my grade 3s.  I know EQAO testing isn't easy and can be stressful, but they are preserving!!  Keep it up!  Just a few more days!!

Exciting things this week:

Babies are hatching everywhere!!!

Our duck family returned again this year.  Momma duck laid her eggs and this week they hatched.  12 little ducklings!!

The Yellow Kindergarten room has some new classmates with feathers.  Mrs. Nicoll invited us to come and see her little chicks.  It was very exciting!!

What we learned this week:

Language: With EQAO taking away 2 hours of our morning, we didn't get to do much work for our language block.

Cereal boxes for media were completed.

Math:  We started to look at division and continued with some money and probability work.

Science: Science reports that we have been working on for the last 5 weeks were due today (Friday).  Those who were not done their projects were given many opportunities to complete their assignment this week, including 3 hours today.  The small number who did not complete their entire projects will be asked to complete them during at least 1 recess a day until they are completed.  We need to move on to other projects and a new science unit.

*** Students will work on their dioramas for part of next week.  Grade 2s will do a science diorama based on their researched animal.  Grade 3s will do a diorama about one of Ontario's geographic landscapes.  Students will be asked to present information about their diorama.

Drama: We continued to practice our play "The Great Kapok Tree".  Please help your child memorize their lines.  Students will be presenting these plays to the primary division later in June.
