What did we do this week:
Language: We continued to practice writing friendly letters.
Please continue to practice writing letters at home.
As a class, we wrote our postcard about our school and Ottawa for the Canadian postcard exchange. The postcards will hopefully be mailed to our assigned group across Canada this week.
Math: We continue to learn about 2D shapes. This week we focused on angles (Right angles, smaller than right (acute), and larger than right (obtuse)), and translation (slide), reflection (flip) and rotations (turn). Some students even got to solve clues about polygons and make the answers on the geoboard.
Science:
We had a discussion on materials and stability. We used the book The Three Little Pigs to help us with our discussion.
We wrapped up our science unit on structures. In pairs, students designed and build bridges that needed to apply their knowledge of the unit to ensure the structure was strong, stable and able to hold a load.
The kids were very excited to be building bridges and to test them. Everyone's bridge was successful!
Gym: We played swamp ball, had a relay race, and played soccer.
