We continued to on Number Sense skills. We will be moving on to addition this coming week. Check out these sites. It allows your child to create numbers using base-ten blocks (online manipulatives)

Make a chart like the one below in the photo. The columns are titled: Number, picture, Base-ten, and Words. Give your child a number. Have them complete the chart.
We also completed some Remembrance Day math. Students had to solve questions in order to colour a hidden picture in a hundred's chart. The hidden picture is a poppy.
Language:
We have been working on an activity book about John McCrae the author of the wartime poem In Flanders Fields. As a class, we read the text together about John McCrae and have been working on answering some reading comprehension questions about him
We have been reading and discussing Remembrance Day. Students wrote about what peace is. First, we brainstormed then students wrote out 4 things that meant peace to them.
Social Studies:
Grade 2s: Examining the celebration of Diwali (Hindu New Year- Celebrated on Wednesday, Nov 7) and Remembrance Day
Grade 3s: Exploring 2 First Nations Groups-- The Wendat and the Anishinabe
Music:
We practiced our Remembrance Day songs for the assembly.
