What we did this week
On Monday, we had Orange Shirt Day (http://www.orangeshirtday.org/). We discussed First Nations, Residential Schools, and the impact these schools had on the children who attended them; their families and community.
We watched Molly of Denali (Episode 1- Grandpa's Drum) to launch our discussion. You can view video by clicking on the link.
On Thursday, the students attended an Earth Ranger assembly (https://www.earthrangers.com/)
Language: We are continuing to write our personal narratives. This week's topic... My worst or best day.
We started literacy centers this week.
We started literacy centers this week.
Math: We started out pattering unit. Students were exploring making patterns that had more than 1 attribute that was changing. (size, colour, shapes, direction, number, etc...).
Can you identify the attributes in these patterns??
We also started to explore growing and shrinking number patterns using a 100s chart.
For example: Start at 2 and increase by 2 each time.
Start at 98 and decrease by 5 each time.
Have your child practice this at home.
Social Studies: We started to learn about the Wendat First Nations group.
Art: Catch-up and starting our Thanksgiving Cornucopias
Gym: Cooperative games and exercises
Health: Where food comes from. Processed vs unprocessed foods.
